Default Drop link bushing tightening

Hi,

What's the guide to tightening the drop-link bushing retainers? My bushings always look knackered after a month, just wondering if I over-tighten them, or if that is normal...

Thanks

For clarification, you mean the two rubber bushes mounted on the short threaded link connecting the front wishbone to the anti-roll bar?

I've always tightened them to take up the play plus a bit more, so that the bushes are squeezed, but no more.
They are only buffers after all, to cushion the pull/push of the rod. If you squash them flat they won't do any cushioning.

They always seem to get mangled, but it doesn't seem to prevent them working.
The 940 (which uses a similar arrangement) Haynes manual gives a measurement for the outside of the two metal cup washers of 42mm. Presumably this is from the Volvo green book, I'll see if I can find a photo online.
There is nothing in the 240 manual though, just the classic 'installation is the reverse of removal'.

Hi,

Ok, thanks. I will just continue to tighten till they slightly squeeze the bushings then.

Regards
