Default FOR SALE: 240 SE with special bits

FOR SALE: Volvo 240 SE - 1990 / J

Having just bought my Amazon I now have to sell my trusy old 240. I have owned it since 2004 and it's been brilliant. I originally intended to make this car fast, perhaps with a 3.5L V8 I had spare or a 2.3L block and VX cam, but I no longer have the time, space or inclination! Here are some details:

Dark blue Volvo 240 Estate, beige interior.
183,000 miles
Manual transmission
2.0 injection engine (Bosche LH 2.4 system)
MOT and tax to December 2009
Nice reg for a 240 owner - J240 MLK
Phillips CD player
Witter tow bar, single electric point
Full service history - I have a file with a receipt for everything in it

The bodywork is excellent, there isn't a spot of rust on it. The paintwork is dull in places but not faded. It is currently running on the 14 inch steel wheels but I will include my 'summer' set of 15 inch Virgos. All tyres are good, two of the 14s are nearly new as are two of the 15s. The interior is good but a little worn, particularly the drivers seat - a good clean could probably sort this. The car has always had rubber floor mats fitted.

Recent work (in the last few years)
Pair of new headlights (therefore new reflectors)
IPD Anti-roll bars front and rear (with poly link bushes)
Rear KYB shocks and Lesjofors springs - new standard bushes
New Jetex Sports Exhaust (just as quiet as the OEM one but much better built)
Four extra gauges (oil pressure, volts, economcy, ambient temp)
New radiator and thermostat
New tailgate wiring loom
Cyl head skimmed and reconditioned (at around 150,000 miles)

I will also include the following spares NOT FITTED to the car:
GLT front springs
New lambda probe
New rear bushing set (trailing arms, control arms, panhard rod)
Spare (new) fuel pump relay
Spare (new) ignition module
Spare (used) PAS pump (nothing wrong with the currently fitted one though).
Original front anti-roll bar (it didn't have a rear one when I got it)

I replaced the bonnet and headlight panel in 2007 when I had a small shunt. They are a slightly different shade of metallic blue to the rest of the car. I was going to get the whole thing resprayed, but that's not going to happen now.

The engine is strong and standard, therefore it is still slow! I have had 35mpg out of it at times but my usual consumption is around 31mpg. On the Virgos it handles ok, the steels less so.

The windscreen has a crack at the top and has had for years, it's not growing and as never failed an MOT because of it. It will be due a cambelt at the end of 2010 (based on time not mileage - it was last changed at 150,000). That is the only work I can see it needing in the future, thw screen will be fine.

The drivers heated seat doesn't work properly, but the electrically adjustable and heated mirrors do!

I want this to go to somebody who will appreciate it so I will not break the car for spares just to get a little extra cash, so please don't ask me to. I don't really want to let it go but I haven't got the space for it now.

I am asking £1,000. PM for more details or to arrange viewing. I am based in Beeston, Nottingham, UK.

David

To answer a common question, the IPD anti-roll bars are 25mm front and 23mm rear. I have been extremely pleased with them.

Hi David. What are you doing with my car?nice to see yours is the same colour and age as mine, you however have a manual box and lots of really nice bits,my poor old thing has been a bit neglected mainly due to lack of funds. My daughter has just started uni and it isn't cheap.
I'm glad it's a volvo as it very rarely goes wrong and even then it never actually breaksdown, she just lets you know by whirring and surging from under the rear nearside seat(high pressure fuel pump struggling as the intank pump is shot)but it still keeps going.
Hope you manage to get the money you are after as looking at the list of parts fitted and spares they add up to a fare old bit of money.
Goodluck Brian.

Due to the outstanding lack of interest for the car I've given in and removed some of the fancy bits, returning it to standard spec.

I will sell the IPD anti-roll bars and gauge pod separately (probably on eBay, but I'll list them here first for a bit) and I will keep the CD player for my Amazon.

I will re-list the car separately here too.

Hi David,

If you still have the gauges and fitting pod, how much are you looking for them, Ive just got my GLT, on the road and these would fit very nicely indeed.

Cheers mark.
