Default Rear seat DVD screens

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum and to Volvo's! I have a T8 on order for delivery in March, and am looking into options for rear seat entertainment for my 2 kids. Previously we have had a pair of headrest DVD players, but I understand that Volvo doesn't supply these on the new XC90. I was wondering if any of you have fitted something similar to your XC90s and if so what you opted for? I am not too hot on the idea of the Volvo iPad holders since I am certain that we will forget they are there at some point and it will make them a theft risk. Can any of you advise if the headrests are removeable on your car and whether I could replace them with an aftermarket option with a built in DVD player?

Many thanks,

John.

I've got a couple of Nextbase DVD players that I had in my old XC90. The main problem was fitting them to the head restraints because the Volvo ones don't come off and don't have the normal "poles" that you find in other cars

I found some bespoke brackets made specifically for Volvos - it was discussed in these threads. See if you can see anything in there that helps.

I haven't yet tried to fit the brackets in my new model XC90..........

I haven't looked to closely at a new XC90 but the headrest are removable in all other models. There is a latch on the rear of the seat where the headrest meets the main body, that releases them. If you feel along the leather then you will feel an indent where it is.

Could you look at ordering a system for a S80/V70 or old XC90 and if those headrest fit in the new XC90, use them? You would need to run the cable through the seat backs and find somewhere to put the DVD player where you could get power to it though.

And if you don't own an iPad? I have a Samsung because it has an OLED screen that's much better. Guess there is aftermarket stuff that can be used.
