Default Which mpg to believe?

I’ve just returned home from holiday towing the big white suitcase, filled up just before leaving. Covered 160 miles some of which was from the M1 over the A66 to the M6 ,then north.
Pressing the wee button on the steering wheel gave my average as 26.5mpg but the app said I did 27.2 mpg . I’m more than happy with either.

The only reliable way of establishing fuel consumption is to do some actual maths having checked mileage covered between brimming the tank.

Saves me having to remember the math!

Hi Scotia,

I've noticed this as well.
Yesterday i did my usual 1 hour commute (30% traffic, 30% light traffic, 40% very light traffic ,open road -not highway) and the TA Computer showed 5.6lt/100km or 5.7lt/100km.

The app showed 5.4lt/100km or 51.3 mpg
I think the app might make the calculation based on remaining range in the beginning and end of your trip.

In my experience of driving an XC60 D4 for six months and recently changing to a XC60 T8 both the diesel and petrol/hybrid version mpg deviate a little from the dash display to the app/console. Incidently both between 28-29 mpg on a mixture of motorway and inner city driving.

More concerning is the absurd 134 mpg advertised by Volvo on the T8 when even with conservative driving in Pure mode the car reports hardly a fraction of this.

your driving journeys are not optimised , maybe you have the wrong car for your needs but it Is possible even on the old V60 D6 hybrid . You need to plug the car in at every available opportunity and keep off motorways and keep your foot off as always if you want some form of economy .

Today i had the greatest discrepancy between trip computer and VOC consumption.

7.4lt/100km trip computer and 5.7lt/100km VOC.

I came to the conclusion that whereas trip computer pics up from the consumption that it has already recorded (unless resetting it), the VOC ISOLATES CONSUMPTION for the specific trip distance.
