Default Drivers Side Door Mirror

Evening all,

Does anyone know the approximate price to be expected for a replacement drivers side door mirror unit for a 1996 850?

Is fitting fairly straightforward? Wiring would still appear to be intact (though inspected in the dark).

Had an unfortunate encounter with an articulated lorry on the M1 today, he was doing 55mph, me almost stationary. Took the mirror and missed me by inches.

TIA.

Expect to pay about £60 second hand from a scrappy. This would be for the entire unit with glass motor and body. Fitting is easy, although you will need to remove the door interior panel in order to plug the new unit in.

I always find it difficult unplugging the electric window switch plug (which is necessary to get the panel completely off). For this job you may find it easier to leave the window switches connected and to get someone else to support the door panel whilst you reach up and plug the new mirror unit in.

Good luck.

I recently had the same issue (dark thin road, other car in the middle of it!), and had to replace the motor and mirror. The casing was fine. Took about 10 minutes to fit the new one with only a philips screwdriver. With the motor, of any of the white plastic rods inside are broken, then it seems the whole motor needs replacing. From Volvo, total price £80 for mirror and motor.

How easy is it to replace the wires in the drivers side door mirror(manual model)? My mirror hardly moves now and I am sure that it is down to the wires having been strained over the years.

I have recently come across an address offering genuine volvo parts at $ prices, amounting to at least 25% saving (including shipping -- depending on item). Try e-mailing for a quote to: ww.info@swedishengineering.com.
