Default Bulbs for instrument panel

Just so I don’t have to take it apart again, can someone remind me what bulbs I need for behind the Speedo etc. IIRC there’s two kinds? Is that right? I’ll need both types.
A web link to some good ones would be handy too.
Thanks.

I’m pretty sure the main illumination bulbs are standard type 504 12v 3w capless and the warning lamps are type 286 12v 1.2w capless. They can be a tight fit in the holders, but I don’t think any of them are the Volvo special bulbs with an integral holder like are used behind the switches. If you have the optional external temperature display its backlight is a 509T.

You can find loads of LED versions on ebay as well. When you search for the 501/T10 type, click "UK Only" - same goes for the 286/T5 type.

I've found over the years that getting a few LEDs sent from China or similar tends to compromise them. Buy from a UK seller and they have imported in bulk so they were better protected for most of their journey to you.

Also you get them quicker!

I’ve been burnt with some crappy leds so I’m going to stick wth normal bulbs this time.

I changed the one below the automatic shifter the other day, does anyone know of any brighter ones that are ok?
Think the one I replaced it with was 2.5w,pack of them in the centre box when I bought it.
Not that bright are they really...

The brightness slider is set to the top
