The dealer has said that there are no codes (which is why they have had difficulty diagnosing) but my home Bluetooth OBD reader consistently found some (as listed earlier in the thread).
P0670 Glowplug control module - circuit malfunction
P0235 Fuel and air metreing - Turbocharger boost pressure sensor - Circuit malfunction
P2263 Turbocharge boost pressure - performance problem.

The car used to make a strange whistling sound between 1500 and 2500 rpm and once they had broken it, that noise no longer happened. Together with the error messages above, I have always thought it was turbo or boost pressure sensor related.

Sounds like a total nightmare. It doesn't make sense what Volvo are reckoning on the injectors. Either way, if they can get it sorted at no cost for you then at least you'll have new injectors!

I'm not impressed with your dealer though!

I got the car back last week, after Bells had it for 5 weeks.

After I wrote to the Volvo management, things happened a bit more quickly. Volvo sent their field engineer out and he diagnosed that the tips of the injectors had corroded slightly while they were out of the car. Apparently, with these ultra high pressure injectors, they must be stored in diesel to avoid that happening. As well as the spray pattern being wrong, they found that the sump oil level was rising with unburnt diesel fuel. They fitted new injectors and drained the oil.

Having driven the D4 Polestar XC60 for five weeks, it is difficult to say whether the performance of my car is back to normal. It doesn’t seem too bad.
The fuel economy is back to normal (over 50 on a run), so would seem to indicate that things are normal again.

My requests for a replacement car only achieve the offer of a goodwill contribution of £1,500 from Volvo UK, and Bells offering to sell me an ex management V90 at cost with a decent p/ex for my V70.

As it was going to cost my company £10k, the car is not technically due for change for another 50k miles, and it is supposedly fixed, my company would not pay the £10k, so I am keeping the V70!
