Done, they'll be clear lights until the bulbs arrive in a few days but I can live with that. Slightly worried moment when I thought they'd sent me too many of the same side, until I realised that the left rear and the front right are sided the same just fitted upside down, panic over. I kind of like the look of the momo wheels now, they are bent to buggery though, flat spotted and kerbed everywhere, luckily they spin true and aren't buckled side to side, 205 tyres on an 8j rim look a little stretched though.

If you want a brighter light try these

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAR-SIDEL...1sI7cZ_sl0x7YA

They fit just but may need a slight trim as length is very tight on the original orange markers, your new ones may be easier.

Bulbs are in, they look a bit pants in full daylight as they don't project light all around so you just get more of a central dot, look a lot better once it begins to get dark though, ill most definitely be getting alternative sidelight bulbs too, as they really are a yucky yellow.

Still say white but you guys are all about orange yet the original came out of the showroom (when fitted) with white bulbs and was legal!
My mot guy laughed when I asked before presen the car as he has been there before, it's not a commercial vehicle. It's a passenger car.
Bulbs - If your using glass ones they must be 3w the 5w will melt the plastic. Led's are available, I got white but you can also get orange, they don't get as hot and are brighter than bulbs.
As always, do as you like but do it for your self!

Did they ever come with clear lenses as standard though, as I've only ever seen aftermarket ones, all the cars I've seen have had orange ones, agreed though, led white would look better, may well buy 6 and do the sidelight bulbs at the same time, or even 8 and attempt the driving light mod to the front fogs that I've seen.

Yep, the clear lenses were are a genuine option too fitted to the latter run of production.

I had fitted the amber LEDs but they were a tad too long and made contact with the inner lens so see if it's possible to get shorter 501 LEDs. They looked fab at night by the way

MOT tester stepping into the ring here , IF you have fitted clear lenses for side repeaters , the light source must then emit an amber /orange light to maintain legality .

https://www.mot-testing.service.gov....4s01000401.htm is the link &

that every direction indicator emits amber light (except vehicles first used before 1 September 1965) ....... is the actual legally binding wording of the MOT test manual

I test cars fitted with clear lenses & several have had w5w cob LED BULBS emitting orange light quite brightly as well , the rest had orange filament bulbs . All legal & all passed that part of the test

These aren't side repeaters though sir, these are marker / position lights, which illuminate with the main lights, not the indicators.

The correct legal answer is quite simple: Read The Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations 1989. Whether MOT testers are familiar with the regs and overlook the side marker lights as they are not a legal requirement on passenger cars is immaterial - it does not change the law.

I have driven a V40 for 20 years and had them MOT'd by the same chappie in all that time and he has never commented on the side marker lights as they are not a legal requirement. He has commented and potentially failed the indicator bulbs for not being orange enough.
