940 2.0 turbo head bolts
On a 1993 940 wentworth 2.0 turbo, do you replace the head bolts when refitting or can they be reused? So are they standard bolts or stretch bolts?

You can reuse them or at least it says you can in the green books, I always replace them for piece of mind.
Mate of mine reused a set before and whilst torquing the head down one of them snapped, luckily it snapped up by the head so he was able to get it out after the head was took off again. |

Probably best to replace then anyway. Is it best to buy genuine or any suggestions of where to get them from?

Whichever way you do it make sure you clean the threads in the block out with a tap so the head bolts have clean threads to screw into - makes the world of difference, especially when torquing the head down!

Thanks guys, I will have a look for those and I have to say I would not have known to clean the threads with a tap. Thanks

Elring. When you oil the bolt threads don't overdo it (like I did and then had to start again with a new, new gasket).
