V70: Electrical - Glimmer from front sidelights

I changed a blown headlamp H7 bulb there and all is well again but I noticed after I locked up there is a slight glow from the LED front sidelights in the headlamp unit. Anyone else know if this is normal?

Yes this is normal. Was the bulbs cheap? Some have a built in resistor to battle the glow when on the off position. Nothing to worry about it will go out after some time.

My old neighbor put the led bulbs above his rear registration and they flashed when he locked his car...

The led bulbs came with the car! They are integrated into the headlamp unit. I only replaced a Xenon H7 as that was what was there already. I will go back out in a mo and see if they have gone out.

I went out into the night and the freezing east wind and the sidelight glow has gone. Not quite a home safe function but I'm glad they are not glowing and draining the battery.

LED bulb glowing, either due to inserting the "wrong" type of lamp, or from factory, typically happens for a short time after stopping the engine. Then the responsible controller goes to sleep mode, and the small sensing feed to the lamp ceases.

I have aftermarket LED's in mine and they do the same thing. They stay on for 30-60 seconds after when the car has been active. This could also include just opening a door as the DIM 'wakes up' when the door is opened. If you look in the manual regarding changing the Xenon bulbs, it talks about residual energy in the bulbs.

But that's two different things. The Xenon drivers may have electricity stored in capacitors. The LED "glow" is due to the probing current, sensing filament failures in ordinary bulbs.
