I'm director of our company, and our whole fleet has teletrac navman trackers and cameras fitted, including now my V90. Tracker was fitted under the centre console and camera just left of the central windscreen pod. I asked if they had had any issues with Volvo safety systems, and the fitter said he'd been doing it for 10 years, and had recently fitted many volvos with no issues.

They are a big US company. Don't think they'd be fitting if they had any liability on safety systems.....

Hi Steve,

Did you need any specific dash removal tools for accessing this or was it easily achieved by hand?

Thank you

Thank you
I used a clean paint scraper to slip under the panel. A gentle tug pulls the clips free.

No tools required.

Only cameras with GPS or permanent Wifi or Bluetooth are not recommended within 15cm if the IS Module. Cameras that do not have these functions won't make a blind bit of difference.
What is the IS MODULE?

Hardwired my nextbase 512g using a micro2 fuse holder off amazon.
Piggy back it first to 12v accessory fuse but I think its live because when I locked my XC60 and came back after 30 minutes, looked in to the car, obviously without unlocking it, the cam was still recording. So I hook it to door lights fuse instead and all is good. 2amps is recommended for dashcam but cant find a 2amp micro2 fuse. So Im using a 5amp for it.

My cam is next to the IS module. I have been using it for over a year now and can confirm that city safety/ autobraking works just fine. So I assume that other safety measures still function and dash cam does not interfere with it.

Hopefully, I was intending an install and did wonder why the cameras the car has couldn't be used!

Well, I got the passenger footwell carpet back far enough to expose the fusebox but have absolutely no idea how to get the cover off. It looks like it's hinged at the short edge closest to the door pillar but will not open.

Similarly, I tried removing the left hand front tunnel trim but it looks like the fixings have been changed as, again, it will not budge and I'm fearful of breaking it. I get one popper off (roughly slap bang in the centre of the panel) and there's a fixing which looks almost velcro-like (but hard plastic on the panel itself) which I've had separated but as for the rest, no idea whatsoever! Looks like I'll have to go the OBD port route, but while I want the dash cam in operation at service time, I don't want anything plugged into the OBD port while the car is being serviced.....

I would be surprised if it has changed. As I said above a clean paint scraper under the trim should enable you to under the clips.
Just to be clear you are trying to remove the panel immediately to the side of the gear lever. That is the panel running from just behind the dash to the side of the passenger seat.
