I think Bruntingthorpe is as big, if not bigger than most RAF air bases. What's bigger than an air base??

Is Goodwood bigger than Bruntinghtorpe? Seemed pretty massive when I went this weekend.

Airfields would work but would need careful marshalling, I know the Scooby event at the Prodrive test track failed as the front of the convoy linked up with the tail of the cars waiting to take their places.
Maybe the Cavalcade could use the runway as being the point where measurement is taken (about 1/2 way down) & then the perimeter track & taxiways to form up on before joining.

It seems to me that the Guinness people need to revisit 'the rules' & come up with a system that is more flexible?

I don't know how it's possible to have a continuous convoy of 1600 odd cars, all keeping no more than 2 cars lengths between them and not have them continually bunching up and stretching out, maybe even colliding. It must be very difficult to do.

Yeah it's total bollocks. As far as I could see on the day, once we got moving it was reasonably smooth. Sure gaps expected, but I can't see why a bit longer than 2 car lengths is a problem. You'd think some form of safety would come first to ensure no collisions?
