alternator removal on 2004 1.8 v40
I need to change the alternator on my2004 v40 1.8 petrol volvo engine , but i'm not sure where the mounting bolts are, I know the power steering pump needs to be moved out of the way but where are the bolts for that to.
any help appreciated. |

No need to remove the power steering pump.
Disconnect battery & Remove drive belt, & alternator cables Remove alternator top mounting bolt , accessed from the side of engine, ..see pic ! There are two bottom mounting bolts which also secure the top of the air con pump, remove these two bolts, slacken the other two bottom air con pump mounting bolts, but don't remove them completely The bottom alternator mounting is sandwiched behind the top air con pump mountings, so if you now lift the alteranator up & towards you it should come out fairly easily. |
