Default Advice on buying volvo

This is my first post here ..

I recently got my first Volvo but I want to change it for another one

I'm looking at either a s60 d5 or a s40 d5

I have found a 2008 s40 d5 with 167k miles

I would like to get people advice on this.. is the mileage too high? It seems that there are not many s40 d5 for sale at all so I want to get one while it's there.. but not sure about the mileage

Thanks in advance

You asked about milage, the op was highlighting the fact his vehicle has done 277,000 and still going strong

167k is quite... Young, I would say.

Just take proper care of it and it will stay with you for a while.

Neglect it and.. You know.

Edit:

I'm not OP!

Nor OAP, for that matter

Edit2:

Now, it is a personal preference, but I'd rather go for S60. Or S80.
S40 seems a bit.. Ford focus springs to mind.

But its a personal thing, no disrespect meant.

Well, Thomas ... I am an OAP (and proud of it), who's perfectly happy to endorse your assessment of Volvo's mile-munching capabilities!

Regards, John.

as with most cars you will need to check it has been looked after. I would say go for it. Love the S40's, im on my 2nd one now only because I loved the look but I wanted the T5 engine instead of the 2.0d.

D5's do crop up, just take your time as you dont want a money pit. but services well it should serve you for quite a while longer.

I much prefer the S40's, there is no sense it shares a platform with the focus because its a completly different car albeit a few sharing components.

be good to know why you are specifically only after a D5.

But anyway you are better of asking this in the C30 / V50 / S40 section of the website

Thanks for the replies..

I like the look of the s40 I think they are really nice.. and the size is nice.. I do really like s60 too but seems they have a lot of trouble with the dpf
