This may be delayed - they've just found corrosion in the landing gear bays and in the internal structure of the inboard elevons...they can fix it but they need another £300k.

Just like running a Volvo, really....

Anyone know what B & B there is locally to the BKV, or alternatively, what the camping facilities are. I think we've still got a tent, but I'm not into roughing it unless there's hot showers and decent loos. (its an age thing you know!

How far in advance do you need to book camping, and the dinner/dance etc?

Question VOC Annual Rally and BKV

My attention has been drawn to this thread when looking at the map linked to Sutton Park. Regretably YORK has two Sutton Parks in close proximity, one a Country House and one a housing estate. One is North and one is South of York. I suggest you find the map for Sutton Park, Sutton On The Forest, YORK, YO61. Local knowledge tells me that a lot of Holiday Cottages and the like are getting booked up. I hope this is of use to those who did not attend the last Rally.

I wonder where you worked on Vulcans Peter? I had the doubtfull pleasure of being a member of the tank team during majors at St Athan.

Default of Volvos and Vulcans

Both begin with the letter "V", both built like tanks and I've worked on both types too!
My claim to fame - I used to be a rivetter on the cockpit area of the fuselage when the B2 version noses were assembled at the Kingston factory of Hawkers, before they geared up for Harrier manufacture. Thats how I ended up with hands like those of the Boston strangler!
In the days when Britain was still Great and men had pride in working hard for the nation..... not just puny bean-counters and the likes.

Now where did I put that zimmer-frame?

I attended the Annual last time round in York but without a car and found there were some cars (Amazons in particuar) parked in the car park instead of the show area. Do cars entered into BKV only have access too the main show area? Whilst I am very pleased with the condition of my 131 I dont want to have it entered into BKV but nevertheless like it shown under a non competition atmosphere. I can do without the stress!!

Thumbs up

I am intending to put my 121 into the BKV with the mind that I would rather feel involved in the day by having the car in than not. Also the more entrants the better and I am looking forwatd to chatting with all VOC members on the day not just Amazon ones and in my view ythere is no better way than taking part in the BKV. I am not concerned about judging or the results but want to enjoy the day and feel I am taking part.
See you at york

All the very best

Ok Jim

You make a good point and I now think you are right. It's the spirit of it and balls to the result. What do we have to do to enter?
