Exclamation Wooden Steering Wheel

Hi All,

I have recently acquired a wooden steering wheel for my XC90 and when i got it i was told the airbag was a straight swap from my old to my new BUT I have noticed the following;

The current S/Wheel is a 4 spoke and the Wooden S/Wheel is a 3 spoke so obviously not a straight swap for the airbags.

Does anybody know the cost of the airbag only for the 3 spoke as i already have the steering wheel.

Pics attached so you will understand my predicament!!

Did you buy from main dealer?? If so, I'd be asking questons..

Also, is the front cover not removeavle from the airbag module, did the front cover (ie the bit with Volvo bage on) come with the replacement wheel?

Hi Mike,

No not from a main dealer but a mate!!

The cover did not come with the wheel but i am lead to believe the cover and airbag are one unit (unless someone knows otherwise).

It would be great if the airbag could be swapped and all i have to purchase is the cover with the badge on it!!

you are correct that the cover and air bag is one complete unit, and can not be swapped over.

if you have a 4 spoke wheel and want a wooden steering wheel you have to also purchase a new corresponding air bag module, and as you know from the quote i sent you this morning that is a very expensive item.

in fact the quote i gave you was just for the air bag module, but when i looked here:
http://vccs.volvocars.se/accessories...VCC-294070.htm

I could then see there are more parts required to do this than just the air bag adding about another £70 on to the cost of buying the air bag.

Simon

Simon,

Thanks for all the help. I will go and raid the piggy bank and find the cost of fitting from my Indie and get back to you on this.

My wife has to have her say too (equality and all that).

Thanks again,

Marc

That type of equality means 80% her, 20% you, at least thats how it seems to work in my household, lol

What would be the total cost for the wheel, bag and all the bits? I've always liked the look of the 3 spoke wheel.

Thanks.

Roy,

I think the S/Wheel on its own is about £280 and the airbag and bits and bob's (according to Simon) are about £540, so a total of about £820!

And yes Simon, its 80/20 in my house too.
