Default Rear seat removal 2008 model V70

Hi. My children have dropped some coins down next to the rear seatbelt buckles in the rear seat. The seats have the built in boosters.

Does the rear base move/hinge upwards easily? Clearly the seat backs fold flat so I know there’s no real need for the bases to fold away first, but I was hoping they do move so I can raise the seat base and clear it all out!

Thanks everyone

Cant say for a V70 but on my xc70 the rear seat is held into the car by two clips which can be released from the dash. Look for a button with the symbol of a seat and headrest, which releases the rear seat base from the car.

Might I seek clarification on this. I have that button on the central dash console; a picture of a seat with headrest. It operates the rear seat headrests and drops them forwards to improve visibility through the back window when there are no rear seat passengers. Are you saying that it also detaches the rear seat from the car? I thought that the seat could just be unclipped manually without resorting to electrical circuitry.

Have ya checked ya Manual? normally they just need a good tug to release...

The two clips , one on each side of the seat nearer the front are set into receptacles, built into the car bodywork I can only tell you what mine does, and considerable force would need to be used to get them free unless there was another way, but that could be the way if the button does not work.

Once your button has released the clips, how do you rearm them? Do you have to hold the button down continuously to release the clips while someone lifts the seat? I can find no connection on my 2012 XC70 between this button and the lifting of the seat base. It just controls the head rest drop. It only works when the engine is running. To be honest the seat base is very solid and I have not been able to move it at all but since this was only for experimentation, I'm not worried about it.

There is no reference in the handbook for the removal of the rear seat base. Volvo don't seem to see this as an owner activity.

The seat base is hooked into the floor with two hooks at the front corners of the cushion. Don't know if child seats make this different. I have heated rear seat, so there you have to disconnect the cables too.
