Default Intellisafe problems (XC90 2016 T8)

Hello guys

We have just bought a few days ago a lovely XC90 T8. Love the way it drives.
It has a couple of problems one is with the intellisafe and the other is a coolant leak ... (can smell around the expansion tank so it might be the tank it self.)
We bought it from an auction as it is an ex lex lease car so typical full volvo service history and 4yo.

The coolant leak, I am not that bothered as they will fix it under warranty most likely (the auction that is. It falls under their terms of checkpoints) however the intellisafe is something I would need to check my self.

I tried to get volvo to book in for just a diagnostic... and the booking time is for October which I find ridiculous, I tried volvo roadside (since the car has free due to the full service history) but because the car is driveable they cannot do anything.
I tried a volvo specialist but .... they are booked until next week.

Any ideas?
What I have observed the car has had the windscreen replaced at some point as the windscreen is a heated pilkington with no sign of any volvo badge or sign?
Aslo when I removed the shroud that covers the intellisafe to check all the cables were clipped in etc, I found a boot foot print on the inside of it. Which means that indeed the windscreen was removed at some point.
The automatic adaptive full beam works without a problem, which leads me to believe the camera is working? ...
However the city safety, road sign information and driver alert are not working.
Also adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist are not working either.

Cheers
Vasilis.

I just checked on HPI and the car is meant to have Intellisafe Pro , which adds adaptive cruise control? unless I am wrong.

If you've got BLIS you've got IntelliSafe Pro anyway. The camera unit combines a camera, two radars and a laser sensor amongst other things.

I imagine a Volvo dealer is going to be the only way to get an answer. Try calling others because I didn't have to wait more than a few days for my service.

You could also try turning up and asking really nicely if they'd just do a quick diagnostic.

If the windscreen has been changed by a non volvo authorised location then the intelisafe system will not have been recalibrated. Any change to the location of these systems and it will not work correctly and need recalibration. You should get in touch with a volvo workshop/specialist for advice, only they have the software to get it working. Hopefully it's just a calibration issue anyway.

Also check that all the intellisafe icons are turned on in the Sensus safety items page, scroll the screen toward the left and you may need to scroll up to see them all, tap any icons that are not green, (start the engine as some are greyed out unless engine is running)

I've just bought a used V60 and noticed on the test drive that the HUD was blurry and had what appeared to be a double image.
Drove it back to back with another V60, also with the HUD and that one was perfect, so it was easy to demonstrate to the dealer (which was a car supermarket, not Volvo dealer).
I agreed to buy it on the condition they sort the HUD and they took it to the local Volvo dealer who said that the windscreen had been replaced with a non-Volvo windscreen.
Almost 3 weeks later and at a cost of over £900 to the car supermarket, it has a genuine Volvo windscreen and has been recalibrated. Nice crisp HUD and all of the assistance features working.
Loving the car but am now living in terror that I get a crack in the windscreen as I'm sure the windscreen cover on my insurance does not guarantee a genuine Volvo windscreen, just a compatible screen.
Make sure the auction company will cover the cost.

That's probably correct because afaik only the camera is used for Adaptive Beam.

There is some inconsistency here because Road Sign and Lane Keeping Assist are camera-only functions, again afaik. Have you checked that these two functions are activated in Sensus? The other functions you mention additionally require the front radar unit so perhaps this isn't functioning correctly. It could be a calibration issue, a faulty unit or a software problem.

The windscreen module has one radar unit and one camera. There is no laser/lidar on SPA cars.

There is a radar unit in each corner of the rear bumper when BLIS is fitted.

You’re right about the laser but definitely two radars although they’re combined into one unit (short but wide angle, and long range). I think this is why it can exhibit unusual behaviour with cars in other lanes. There’s a picture in the manual somewhere.
