Default 140/164 anti-roll bars

Hi,

May be of interest to 140/160 owners as IPD bars are are to come by.

Front and rear bars listed for most 1 series; here are examples:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/803-s...mZ370105399311

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/819-s...mZ370105399564

I've never tried them,, so can't comment. If anyone buys, I'd be interested to hear if they're any good.

Thanks

Thumbs up

Hi John

I made contact with Phil Singer, the editor of www.vclassics.com, in the USA and somewhere along the line we discussed IPD's front ASB and this is what he had to say:

"I buy very little from IPD, but I do recommend their heavy front sway
bar (I think it's not beneficial to run a rear bar, and they will sell
just the front although they don't advertise it that way). It really
transforms the handling -- you'll like it." - Phil Singer

From what I can tell he quite reputable in the US on old Volvo's.

This ASB really transforms the handling! Makes cornering a lot more fun, and reduces wind influence a lot at high speed. I won't bother buying the rear ASB, it involves drilling and reinforcing. The front bar is very simple to install, takes only 1 hour or so. The rear ASB makes the car tailhappy, especially in the wet. Makes it oversteer by surprise. Fitting a heavier front ASB is the #1 in upgrading the handling in my opinion.
And yes, Phil Singher is a very reputable Volvo guru in the US. He's a very trustworhty and honest guy.

I agree. I put a 25mm front bar on the 164 and it made a massive improvement
