850 Throttle Pedal Adjustment?
Whilst changing out my rear wiper relay I stumbled across an adjustment wheel at the top of the throttle pedal linkage. I was just wondering if anyone knows what this does, and how to adjust it properly?
I am curious as to whether or not this might either change the height of the pedal (hence making heel and toe easier), or if it can remove some of the free play I have at the pedal end? Here's a pic of the wheel. Couldn't quite get a pic of the whole assembly.

I was going to say that I've never seen/noticed that before - so I checked my old pics of my old 850R from when I replaced the accelerator cable... and lo and behold, it also had that adjuster! (Just above the arrow).
I can't help sorry, as I never noticed it before!

Just a thought based on almost total ignorance of the accelerator pedal on the 850 since my V70 Tdi has the drive by wire type.
I notice both you gentlemen have manual 850s. Is it possible that the adjustment might be for the kickdown facility on automatics? it would of course be redundant on the manual but it would seem likely that the same pedal assembly would serve for both versions. Martin 1998 V70 Tdi auto |

Mine was an auto Martin - the throttle body mechanism has a double cable arrangement that manages kick down. It also has another cable managing cruise control...

Actually Martin, I owe you an apology - I think I may be getting confused with the 940 kickdown mechanism... I've had way too many Volvos
