V50 General : - V50 1.6 diesel clutch

Hi yesterday I had trouble selecting gears when I set off in the morning to work, as it progressed I was having to stop the engine to engage 1st and reverse( was able to crash other gears).
By the end of the day once in gear and if I pressed the clutch it would still drive, as if the cable needed adjusting( if it had one that is!)
Now the question is would this be the clutch itself or maybe the slave cylinder? Has anyone had this happen and repaired it successfully?

Have you checked your brake fluid level?

Yes levels was a little low, have bled it too. Still same.
