Correct. I can't remember their name but there used to be someone on this forum somewhere in Europe who not only had a 760 TD mk2 saloon but also a 960 TD mk1 saloon.

I have found a 1990 740 diesel turbo estate. It has the early dash, but later headlights

Steep price at £3500, am arranging to go see it

Same year as I have.

The 'later' headlights and grille look very similar to 940 - but aren't readily interchangeable.

I like the later headlight look, but wouldn't surprise me if they are more difficult to find

It isn't intercooled, but am not buying it for speed

Is a one owner car, who has recently died (90 years old), it allegedly has just 130k on the clock

Fingers crossed it's a belter ;-)

Is the radiator grille the same size on a 740, before and after the small headlight update ?

This grille has a few fins missing of one side

The facelift 740 has a smaller grille

Don't be put off by the lack of intercooler on the 740, I've had one and they are fine. You still get excellent mid range punch when the turbo kicks in. It's not what you'd call slow.

Oh, and if its a manual, it'll have the O/D button on the gearstick..this means 4-5 shifts are lightning fast.
