Many thanks.

Does the surface treatment also mean that I possibly just need to clean the leather facings with a damp cloth?
Yes and yes.

I regularly clean the seats in both my cars with Dr Leather Leather Cleaner. I use the spray bottle rather than the disposable wipes. Leaves the seats soft and smooth and smells nice with that new leather smell.

Are the leather facings uncoated?

I thought most was coated nowadays, so absorption is minimal, if at all?

I have had 3 V70s and all 3 have suffered from cracking of these squabs of the front seats. Has this occurred with anybody else? Volvo said I was the first one to complain about this problem, but I really hope I haven't bought the only 3 V70s with this problem.Unfortunately I made the mistake of choosing these cars which all have this awful synthetic seat material. I really should have learnt my lesson after the first one but Volvo has such a reputation for the quality of their seats that I didn't think it could be repeated more than once.

The leather is coated, but the Dr Leather is a cleaner rather than a conditioner that leaves a sticky mess on the seats and your clothes .

Look no further than 'Renapur' a good UK product! See their website:

https://renapur.com/

I have used it for years ++ on all leather, including my shoes! A £12 tub (now reduced by 50ml to 200ml!!) lasts forever. Well, not quite as I have bought 2 over too many years than I care to recall!

I bought a '98 V70 a couple of years ago with full leather seats that were in need of some tlc. After a bit of black leather dye and working 'Renapur' into the leather the seats are looking maginficant. In fact I treated them again yesterday!
