Default V70 airbag sensor 9472727 D replacement

1998 V70 T5 Auto
(There is an airbag on the passenger side of the dash).

I have been told (by a reliable independent) that to fix my SRS problem, I need to replace the Airbag sensor that lives under the centre console.

I have bought a used unit 9472727 D
(photo attached)

I have removed the centre console
(good instructions here
https://www.pelicanparts.com/techart...eplacement.htm
)

I myself have previously seen the old unit which lived somewhere near the handbrake, but now I can't see it!

Is it under the black plastic cover in the attached photo? I am pointing to that cover with the screwdriver. What do I have to remove to get the cover off?

Thanks Steve

I suggest you read and follow what it says on the yellow label before you waste your money . You can't mess around with SRS equipment ..

Hi Clan,

OK Thanks.

Yes.

As I understand it the replacement unit may need to have new software loaded if the loaded software isn't an exact match.

Is there something else I should be concerned about?

Steve

It's highly unlikely you can load software as it already has unique software in it matching the car it came out of . Dealers are forbidden to do this kind of thing too , volvo HQ keep a log of all software done by dealers . Then you have the safety liability , what if it doesn't trigger properly and kills your passengers for example .
