Dear John, thank you for your help!
I have the 10 DVD system in the boot are so I bought that RC https://www.remote-control-world.eu/...control-p-2374 but it seems that doesn´t work. I turn on the screens and blue background with red letters "NO SIGNAL" appears. Aiming to the rear mirror it's the same. Pressing Power and other buttons nothing change. I´m not sure if the remote is not correct or anything else. Here is a picture of the RC, for me, it looks like a TV RC https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1...xfQ0dpeWpyX1Uw

I really hope to be able to operate the RSE for my kids
Thanks everybody for your help.

Hi, are you sure the DVD itself works, it seems the headrests do.

Firstly the remote, it should look like the one on the picture, I.e, silver. This is identical to mine which is ( I believe) original.

Does the new remote work? Look at the sensor in the end with a digital camera, you should see it flash when you depress any button.

Looking at the 10dvd, can you eject the disk stack? If so then you do have power to the 10dvd unit.

When you start with the remote you will hear a relay click to the left of the unit (looking in the boot). The 'gubbins ' to start the unit is under the floor unit to the left edge behind the rear nearside wheel arch. Have a look around here as could be a poor connection.

Hope this helps

Hi, it might be an idea to start a new thread as this one is piggybacked on an old thread based on the one DVD player supplied by volvo.

You will understand that to 10dvd system is UK specific and is not part of the rest of the volvo system which can be diagnosed with volvo diagnostics.

Yours is a free standing kit which was designed in the UK and is, in effect, standalone other than you can also provide input from the small pad down on the floor between row 3 seats

Suggest a thread title of 'UK 10 DVD system not working'. Thiis means international forum members will not get confused.

Thanks John, it seems that the RC works well because I see the flash with my iPhone camera when pressing a button. I took contact with the manufacturers of the RC and they said that it doesn´t matter if the RC looks different but should work as a replacement for the original Blaupunkt RC-3210A (the 10 DVD unit original RC).
Then I dismount all the DVD unit and cables and as far as I can see everything looks good, some cables extend so far that I couldn´t see them properly. When I unplug and re-plug the DVD unit´s cable, it sounds but I can´t eject the disc tray anything. So I suspect it could be a connection problem between the rear boot and whatever forward the cables go, or a problem with the DVD unit.
I found that the unit is the same as Rosen DVA-3210.

Any suggestion?

Kind regards,

Sounds like power to unit, but the eject is part of the DVD unit itself, will check mine, but pressing a blak button should eject the tray if I remember. In truth I have not checked mine for a few months. This would indicate the 10dvd unit may be at fault.

Also, the or reader should work from the boot, so when you are standing at the rear, you should hear a relay click when on button pressed. Again, will check mine today.

There is a relay and adapter box on the small chassis mounted on the floor on left side. This can be removed by undoing a 13mm bolt ( if I remember) and carefully sliding out. This adapter takes cable plug from DVD unit as an input, plus 12v from fuse and switches 12 v to a domed unit which is one of the two rf transmitters ( for headphones) . this us via a small white 4 pin plug and socket. There is also an input from the ir reader (from front of car) which should read signal from the handset and initiate operation.

This adapter box will switch the 12 v relay to power transmitters and also power on and control DVD player. The adapter box also takes the signals from dvd and adapts them to video and audio output. The audio plugs into transmitters and video a physical connection to screens. This adapter box has a label that states there is a fuse inside the box, but mine had none. It might be worth checking yours.

There may also be a free standing fuse in this area. So a mooch in this area may help.

Failing that, why not have a day trip to Southend and you can compare with mine? At least we can eliminate the controller.

Hope this helps

LOops, sorry for double post. I edited and posted against!

Just checked car. With ignition off, if you press black button above DVD tray ( in boot) it ejects tray. When you push it back, it appears to go through 10 cycles, presumably checking DVDs in each slot. Then stops.

Switch ignition on, switch on screens ( bottom right button), then blue screen, red lettering no input.

Press remote and you get volvo logo. Press play and first DVD available plays, but in my case ( could be my hearing) no audible click but plays.

Am off out now, but if you want me to check further let me know and will try later thisaft.

Hope this is helpful

Dear John, I can only hear noise from the DVD unit when I unplug and re plug its cable but the eject button doesn´t work. No matter if the car is in off or running.

The screens turn on OK but without the Volvo logo, I think because the dvd player is not turned on. It's strange because I think I have power into the dvd unit but not turn on. The cables and fuses that you mention seem to be OK. Good Idea about the trip to Southend, I´m going to see when it could be.
I´m trying to find Peter (Elliot) for more help.

It does seem that although power to DVD unit itself, the logic is not working. The DVD tray being ejected is a basic function.

The 'volvo for life' logo (I believe) if programmed into DVD ROM, so DVD player logic does seem awry.

Note that you can usually find second hand 'volvo' 10 DVD system on eBay for about £100.

If you want to visit sunny Southend, pm me and I will send address details and we can arrange to meet.

BTW, I do have a spare DVD adapter box, but I don't think that is your problem.

Hopefully you could also contact peter Elliott who designed this system for volvo UK. However I heard he was now into home entertainment.

Cheers john l

Wink

Hi, as of today, 22 Aug 18, try

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F282952281604

This is £140 but includes delivery.

Alternatively try volvo breakers in the UK.
