Default VEA D4 idle speed

I'm very happy with the performance and economy of my VEA D4 (181) engined 2015 V60, however the idle seems a tad too high, being a whisker under 1000 RPM whether hot or cold. This can catch me out when slowing down into a 40 MPH speed limit in 6th gear and finding that the high idle is then resisting my efforts to slow!

The Wikipedia VEA page suggests that it should be '825 - 850 RPM', which is around what I would have expected, but what idle speeds do others have on this engine?

TIA

Then the 'problem' would obviously become apparent at a lower speed. But the issue here isn't about me being in the wrong gear, that was merely an example of how the apparently high idle is noticeable.

What I was really hoping for was other VEA D4 owners quoting their hot idle RPM.

I wonder if your clutch switch is faulty. The switch is used to raise rpm very slightly (from idle to around 1000rpm) when you're in gear, clutch pedal down and you start to lift the pedal, to help avoid stalling and to reduce stress on the DMF. The switch also disengages cruise control if you press the clutch pedal.

Can you engage cruise control? If so, the switch is OK. If you cannot engage cruise, the switch is almost certainly the problem.

Interesting, but the cruise control is actually working fine. Everything seems to be working fine!

Is your D3 a VEA? If so, what's the idle RPM on that?

I haven't noticed the revs on mine changing when the clutch is operated.

idle speed on my D4 VEA XC60 is about 800 to 850 rpm. ( hard to be precise due to the nature of the rev counter )

Does sound a bit high, however I'd be wary about getting down to those speeds in 6th as the DMF will be generating heat smoothing out the roughness of the mismatch in speed / gearing. It isn't likely to do much good for the components longevity.
