Default XC60 'Battery Low'

Weirdly we have had this a couple of times in the last week. Wife went on a 100 mile motorway run this morning, with the hope it might help, but seems , when I went to check the ipod issue we are having, as soon as I turned the sound system on, it immmediately came up. Am I looking at a new battery or something else? Bear in mind, I only switched the sound on for less than 30 secs before it showed on the dash.

What a coincidence, my Nov 2010 XC60 also flagged a battery alarm last week..

Over 5 yrs old and cold weather -8C at times and I am not surprised, new battery ordered.

In my XC90 the battery lasted 7 years from new.

My xc90 doesn't get used all time so i have a charger for a motorbike when am not using it and i alternate it between the bike and my xc90 to keep it topped up when not in use,

Its amazing what a odd very slow trickle charge can do to a battery especially at this time of year when there is alot of loads on electrical systems

Thanks, I'll double check on the battery size ( varying options !) and also call Volvo and see what they charge in the game too. Luckily a colleagues wife works at a motor factors as well.

Seems I have an 80 AH battery after having a look today. Spoke to Volvo and the parts guy said that it could be the key fob battery which is the cause , as it shows the same 'low battery' as the car battery does on the dash. A strange logic by Volvo , I suppose. So , he said change the fob batteries first and see if it goes away. I did check the levels in the battery and all seemed good and clear, with nothing nasty crud in there. He said they can test it if I want to.
I have ordered 2 batteries for £3 and if I need a battery, either £85 plus 4 year warranty from my mates wifes place or a 3 year warranty and £106.20 from Volvo. So not drastic prices to be honest.
