I've used Michelin Pilots on my 1999 V70 AWD, which lasted well but were quite noisy , but not half as noisy as the Goodyear Eagle GS-D3 I replaced (all 4!) them with. To correct the noise, and after much discussion with dealer about wheel bearings, I changed to P6000s and noise dropped significantly, as did scraping at front end when loaded.
From new my 2004 V70 ran on P6000s (17") which were quiet, but did suffer from mild tramlining on certain roads. However, when I upgraded to a 2005MY V70 (don't ask!), fitted with the same P6000s, the car suffered from no tramlining at all . I can only assume that Volvo upgraded the suspension bushes somehow for the 05MY. |

Looking at tyres at the mo
can any one tell me if the tramlining makes a differnce with a strut brace fitted as not long fitted mine and it made a big improvement. Asking because bought the cat with four different tyres on!! ON A T5 HONESTLY recommended to get bridgestone expedias so3 but my dealer ssays they dont come in 225/45/17 He recommended the pirelli p6000 Anyone got a better suggestion for the C70 as most of you have the 850 or v70 or would these all suffer the same faults and handling foibles |

Only the new style V70's and S60's suffer this problem with the 225/45/17 tyres. The older V70 uses thinner tyres.
Bridgestones will wear down quite dramatically as they're very soft. I've got Continentals on mine at the moment which are brilliant but a wee bit noisy. MyTyres currently have the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 in 225/45/17 for £77.30 each including delivery. - Bargain.

wow, that is cheap for the eagles, having to get them fitted is always a bind though.
I have an S70 with a strut brace and powerflex tca bushes running Bridgestone RE050 225/45/17 on 17" Tritons and it tramlines terribly. Had the tracking checked and it's perfectly parallel at the front which I though would be wrong but the mechanic said it was ok for it to be like that...? Dont think I've ever had tyres as soft as the bridgestones though except maybe some yokohamas I had years ago, eight months and they're ready. |

Why are you all driving down tramways?
Please indulge a newbie, I'm not sure what tramlining is.
Best guess is the steerings resistance to move away from dead ahead. OR the way that the front end skitters and slides around under heavy accelerator (like torque steer) Michelin Pilot SX 225/45 ZR16 on Std Columbus alloys

I have the original 15" alloys on my 850 estate and have just removed the P6000s. In place I have opted for "other" tyres, Kumho 195/55v, excellent ride and handling and no more squeals on roundabouts.

I am going to fit 17" Comets next week with Pirelli P Zero 215/45/17 so will report back, sooner than you think by some pm's i have been getting

They're not massively noisy, but certainly an increased noise over some other tyres on offer! |
