Thanks guys.
Just parked up after 186 mile trip. I can't believe how good the drive is. I've had the 850/940/v70 and this beats them all!
Silent engine, no wind noise, superb sound system, smooth as a babies bum.
However.............
I put £40 quid in and its pretty much gone so doing the maths thats about 24mpg (bo***ocks) thats not funny. Bloody ebay!
Time for a think as I do still have my Citroen Saxo Diesel for chugging round and keep this for longer trips.
Its a white facelift model in outstanding condition - I think it looks great.
White is the new silver. I wouldn't have looked at a white car 2 years ago but i think they are in at the moment.
Ho Hum

Default Petrol V LPG

I have just bought 940 wentworth, I have just taken a Rover Sterling (2.7l) off the road which ran on LPG. i cannot wait till I get the LPG fitted into the 940, it cost between £20-£25 to fill on LPG. I only but £25 approx of petrol in the Rover in 2 years of running it, filling every 8-10 days a saving of £20-£30 per tank. I only cover about 5000 miles a year and can feel the differance in the pocket already. I dont think I could live without LPG now.

Could be as much as £1800 for a quality multipoint system, professionally fitted. That'd pay back in less than a year on 20,000 miles/year.... as long as the government doesn't hike the duty. You need to find out the government's stated intentions there.

The 960 is well suited to conversion. The guys on the LPG section will soon tell you if you post down there... They'd probably point you in the direction of a good fitter, too. (If you were in the North, I'd thoroughly recommend Autogas 2000, the one at Carlton Miniott near Thirsk. They'd probably recommend a good fitter in your locality, too.)

Don't let the naysayers put you off.

Forget the govenment hiking tax on LPG imo ...I had this arguement 2 yrs ago on a different forum , most people said the govenment wouldnt let it stay cheap etc etc , blah blah blah ...and i didnt get LPG , 2 yrs later the price is more or less the same as it was , the govenment didnt hike tax on it and im £1200 worse off ...So my prediction is pretty much the same ...Im coming out ....IM DOING IT ..LPG ..

I recon the Govt cant hike the price of LPG much more than it has already as people will just fill up with bottled calorgas instead.

Classicswede does LPG conversions and specialises in Volvos, better ask him all about it. Ive got a quote on my 944 turbo and its pretty good.

Steve

My friend has just done what you have!
He went out and bought a 960 (his is a 2.5) and had found out how expensive it is too run.
He loves it to bits as it is comfortable and fast.
The only bonus is he only paid £120 for it!!!!
Sadly he is definitley not willing to put LPG kit into as he has had quotes upward of £1500.
Which kind of makes it more costly than the price of the car!

hi heyskull
What really bugs me is I need a big estate for work so was looking for a 960 for ages. i eventually found mine for £600 with good history and amazing condition. I am working out all the figures then I am driving past our local garage and he has a silver 960 WITH lpg fitted for £695.

Could kick myself for being impatient!
