Can no longer select flick wipe on wiper arm
As per the title, my V40 used to let me push the selector up to provide a single wipe, but the arm will no longer move upwards.
Moving it downwards still offers intermittent and continuous. I've searched on here and there are a few posts with similar issues so has anyone else had this happen? If so, is it fixable or is the easiest/quickest option simply to replace the unit via ebay etc? If I do need to swap it over, does anyone know if it is an easy swap or if there are any problems with removing the arm from the steering column? Thanks

Sounds stupid but might be worth a try as this happened to me with my V50?
Have you got your main lights switched on when doing this. Mine were if I remember switch to off but had the main day lights on so lighting up the road and appearing to be on. Noticed the switch was off, switched the lights on and all good.

I understand what you mean but I don't think the light switch will affect the wipers for this model.
When trying to use the stalk & push it 'up' it's totally immobile upwards, as if it was the wiper arm for the saloon model, but it's been perfectly ok up until when this happened about a week ago. Weird?

It is possible that it has failed, or if you are lucky that it may have dirty contacts inside. Only way to tell for sure, is if you replace the arm and see if it works. Replacing is very very easy. Just undo the 3 screws securing the steering wheel cowling and remove it. Undo the two small screws securing the arm to the plastic moulding and it just comes out

As per Gatos posting ^^^^^.
Just one point to watch: you do need a replacement stalk off a phase 2 as phase 1 did not have the single wipe function.
