My XC70 came from Riverside in Hull and the previous owner bought it there and took it there for everything and was most impressed with their service so it sounds a bit odd and certainly not normal. As you are in Kent you should have no trouble finding one a bit closer.

Also £17250 sounds a bit rich for a 2013 V70, you should be able to get a more competitive price elsewhere. I see Riverside have a Rebel Blue one up for £17990, is this the car you wanted? Rebel blue is a cool colour but doesn't add that much value!

yes thats the one they wouldnt drop any lower i know its high but it has good spec and blue does look good , i took all week to make a decision and because its a selkt car beleived everything would be covered under ther 12 month warrenty and a friend is on his second volvo , but your all right im thinking of bowing out its left a bad tast and theres a 2011 one coming into local dealer who agreed today that what they have done isnt right and have given me volvo customer care number , didnt get any sleep last night so wound up why give them 17 grand !

As has been said, the best bet is to buy locally, and I would suggest spending a little funds on getting it independently inspected and valued before committing.

Wonder if the other person buying the car took it on finance, we all know dealers get a nice bonus for pumping people for finance. personally, chalk it up to experience and never deal with them again and complain to volvo they probably won't give a **** but you might get a voucher etc.
I would never pay 17k for anything, if I hadn't either driven it or had a good look over it first, and I think they have a cheek charging you £150 for delivery.

Don't, it's that easy

It was a decent spec, not the highest and other than the colour it isn't anything hard to find. I would just leave it and try again. VCUK are a pathetic excuse of an after sales service, they simply don't care! I wouldn't stress about buying one from a Volvo main dealer, they aren't that good. I have an AA after sales package with my V50 and it is so much more comprehensive than anything Volvo offer.

NEVER, never, never buy a used car blind. It may be the dogs wotsits to you, but to the dealer you are just another punter to be relieved of as much cash as possible.

Why oh why, when it comes to cars, do we take leave of our senses? We have all done it, me most certainly included. Once the shiny new metal is in sight and the Mrs has said it's OK, we throw caution to the wind.

A second hand car is a huge risk. Once it's paid for and on your driveway it's your problem. It may have a warranty but surely it's better to get any niggles sorted out before you buy, rather than after.

Why? Because before you buy the dealer has an incentive to fix it pronto. He wants your cash. After it's off his hands it's up to you to do all the chasing around.

And buying blind? What about that scuffed bumper you didn't know about? Before you buy you can argue with the dealer to respray it, after you buy he'll point to the small print that says it's not his problem.

If you haven't driven it how do you know you even like it? Or that all the dashboard lights work, or that there's a squeaky dash when you go round left hand bends, or that your Bluetooth phone is compatible with the car's audio? or that the tyres are down to 4mm and will need replacing in 5000 miles? Or that the locking wheel nut key is damaged?

Remember that a second hand car is for sale because someone else didn't want it. How many of us have 'got rid' of a car 'before it gets troublesome'? Just because it's 3 years old and a Volvo doesn't change a thing! It's still a second hand car.

There almost half a million cars for sale on Autotrader right now. 700 of them are V70s. Unless you're a drug dealer or a lottery winner then £17,000 is one hell of a lot on money. Only part with it when you are 100% happy. And that surely can only be once you'e seen and driven the car.

If there is something you don't like then sure as eggs are eggs, you certainly won't be in position to sell it as easily as you bought it!

The way I see it is that you have had a lucky escape and the fool that finally bought it will have to suffer these ******s in the long run

Just to give another point of view..... I assume they only had one number to get hold of you (mobile)? And they tried to ring it several times? and left messages? And they havent taken the deposit as you cant process a transaction against a card without knowing the address it is registered at? So they havent taken a deposit and so no consideration has passed?

They were slack in not taking your address for the deposit - a mistake. But they did try to contact you. Mobiles are rubbish for that reason - out of signal or out of battery and you are uncontactable. They have another punter wanting to buy and you arent returning their call - what are they supposed to do?

I'd put it down to experience and buy a different one. But I would also say if you arent sure and not in a good place stick with what you have until you are in a better place - easy to spend money and then regret it later.
