Default v40 losing power and shuddering after start up

had my v40 for about 2 weeks, had it mot'd and serviced everything fine.

need to have my timing belt changed could this be whats happening?

it basically starts then is shuddering almost like it wants to stall but drives fine, then after a few minutes the power just comes back and car runs and pulls just fine.

also this doesnt happen all the time has happened twice so far, the first time i had mistakenly left the ignition in poistion one after putting the window down, so figured it had something to do with the battery being a bit flat.

any ideas?

First, I'm no expert!
What engine is it? Is it the 1.8 petrol, if so some years ago my ex had a mitsubishi carisma which I believe shares the same engine, she had this type of trouble with hers and it ended up being the throttle body that was gunked up badly.
If its another engine all I can think of as possibilities are the thermostat, you know this is faulty if when the car is up to running temp the needle does not sit halfway and can also fluctuate a little.

Posibly the idle air valve, do the revs stay "solid" ie no fluctuation when idling?

Does the car have aircon? This can sometimes cause a slight dip in revs when engine is first fired up.

Slight possibility of an HT lead, only slight mind IMO.

good luck with it.

hi guys

the engine is a 2.0l petrol, 1999 plate

its seems to be all sorted now it looks to have been a injector coil that had degraded
