To get the wipers to service position when you turn the cars ignition off, press and hold the wiper stalk up for a couple of seconds and the wipers will raise upto the service position so they can lift them to change and clean the windscreen.

My V40 cross country has the facility to 'park' the wipers in the up position so you can raise the arms when washing the car or changing the blades although I don't need to do that just yet with only 8K on the clock. How to achieve this was in the 'My Volvo' section in the Radio / Info panel.

this nipping from door handles is pilot error (if you put hand too close to fire expect to get burnt )its the same as this C'MON no fault of car but instead pilot error .....

But, on the rear parcel shelf sharp leading edge issue it might be a different story. In addition to agreeing, he asked me for a link to the U-shaped edging I had fitted, so he can pass it up the line. We'll see.

Anyway, all is well with the D2 Powershift. I love it. It doesn't have the grunt of the Jag I had but in every other respect it is the equal, if not better.
Thank god for that must have cut mynhead about give times now always forgot and you dont really expect a parcel shelf to be a cause of pain/injury. Haha

It's nothing to do with "pilot error".
The fire analogy isn't appropriate. You get pre-warned by a fire.
The door handle, and for that matter the rear parcel shelf, give no such pre-warning.
Both issues should have been addressed at design stage. The shelf is no longer an issue, as I have fitted u-shaped rubber edging.
Any way, best wishes for 2016 to all.

Not sure why you had to revive the thread after several weeks with an unconstructive answer that could be taken as belittling, I have never caught my finger personally but my wife has and I can tell you it looked like it really hurt.
Are you saying she is stupid and does not know how to use a car handle? If so I'd like to see you say that to my wife.

The reality is which is obvious the door handles can if grabbed in a certain way give a nasty pinch, it's unfortunate but one of those things and not an intentional design feature
