Default Window Gasket Installation Gone Wrong

With water leaking through the rear quarter windows in my '68 Amazon Wagon, I decided to try replacing the gaskets myself.

Taking the old windows out and fitting the gaskets and even installing the windows back into the car went very smoothly...apparently too smoothly.

I can't figure out why the gasket formed "waves" at the corners.

I've tried manipulating the gasket to no avail. it is like this in each corner. At the end of the weekend I had to give up and just squirt mastic in there so it wouldn't leak (it's my daily driver and doesn't have a garage to live in at the moment).

Any idea what I did wrong or how to fix it?

I had this issue when replacing the 1800 quarter windows. I used a hair dryer on LOW heat setting and managed to get it to seat correctly

Default gasket

Warm them in hot water before fitting.
