Steering: - Steering Rack

Hi Everyone :-)
Ive got a 2003 D5 XC90 which i love, I took it to a friends garage on friday because of a nasty knocking from the steering, and after working on it to replace the steering arms he has informed me that the steering rack is shot to pieces and needs a new one.

He has already warned me its not going to be cheap but i cant find any info on the net to let me how much of a shock to expect on monday.

Does anyone know how much a Volvo part is?

I have a second hand rack from a T6 if it's any use to you. The dealer will want best part of £800 to £900 for a rack, plus fitting costs.
