Default Buzz at 2500/3000pm, and no power

Hi everyone, 2001 V40 1.8 Auto

Suffering from lack of power generally. When trying to climb up a steep hill at 25-35mph, the engine really struggles. Opening the throttle just adds noise, and a loud buzzing is evident between 2500 and 3000 rpm. More throttle just makes the buzzing incrementally louder.

Slowly coming on and off the throttle just adjusts the volume of the buzz!

Engine has done 61k, and in other respects in fine. Has had cambelt and VVT pulley done previously.

There's no VVT tick tick burr, so that's not the issue.
There's no problem with the PCV, tested that today. Pressure at the oil filler is fluttery at idle, but there's negative pressure when lightly revved.

Thoughts?

How confident are you on that? Just an idea, or based on some experience?

Cheers

I'd chuck a set of new plugs in just to rule it out, plus it's a cheap fix if it does solve it.

Maybe scan it and see if any fault codes.
Could be low fuel pressure,or autobox not kicking down.
