GOOD NEWS for you........
I recently had a conversation with DUPONT about old paint codes. They can cross the old numbers to new numbers and any DUPONT dealer can mix it up for you. My code is 79 and this is what they said:

Volvo Code 79-1 is listed with Dupont Lucite Code 8114. This code is
available in Nason Urethane Formula number still is 8114.

I have a 1989 DuPont "Automotive Color Index" i.e. colour code book.
79 Parlvit is listed as 1962 - 68 #101358 and available (in 1989) in Centari 500 and Imlar paint types.
Also have 1989 Ault & Wiborg book. Just to be awkward they have 3 shades for 79 Pearl White. 32296 Dull Grey Shade, 34583 Light Shade, 34582 Light Yellow Shade.

That looks to be the colour Derek in your picture or pretty close anyway, its hard to tell in Adam's barn its in semidarkness, i have to squint coming back into the light after a day in there.

By the way you make a cracking cuppa Adam, if you just double the volume of them you won't be far off

Got my dad to check under the bonnet. It is 97 Light Yellow but looks dissimilar to your photo there Derek

I looked on Amazonpictures at other 97's and it looks similar

Dunno what to do now

I actually can't believe how much tea you drink John!!!

Cracking job guys. I got a few spray paint cans from a paint supplier on the net a while back but can't think of the company sorry. If you wanted some Volvo 66 I could send you some 2k top coat?

Hi good work going on there chaps. I got some aerosols mixed up by a local firm for my red amazon. They were not phases by the code and I had my paint within the hour. Good match... I used it under the bonnet on mine.

A&W call code#97 "Sand Yellow". Again they have 3 shades, Basic is Sand Yellow 28928, Sand Yellow (Clean Yellow Shade) 34597, Sand Yellow (Deep Yellow Shade)
I might guess that the colour of the car in the link I posted is the Deep Yellow Shade and has also had a repaint, while William is the basic Sand Yellow, if #97?

Have to say that if your dash/ash tray is a good representation of the colour it appears to be more like 79 than 97. I have a pic of the dash taken with flash but not one of the ID plate. Please confirm what it is.

Thanks very much for that.

I don't understand why there are 3 different shades for the same colour. Why is that?!

I guess I could take the one of the door caps or the ashtray somewhere where they could do a match

It is definitely 97 and not 79 and is more yellow than the 79's I've seen in photos. It's so difficult to say from photos, but my old car doesn't look like the photo of a 97 that you kindly put up which is very yellow, but does look like other Light Yellows on Amazonpictures website

I've found a photo of the car on it's previous reg which catches the light to make it look very yellow!!

I'm colour blind so rubbish at colours and can't see a difference between 66 and 79: http://www.volvotips.com/index.php/g...o-color-codes/

I have some from a bit I cut off my car if you wanted to compare side by side?
