Which remap?

Default Which remap?

Good morning all,

I know this has been done to death several times in the past but I'm going to ask anyway - times change and companies fall in and out of favour so I'd like an up to date opinion on which map to get.

2005 V70 2.4 T5 Geartronic with 260 BHP as standard. In the garage at the moment undergoing a full service. Literally everything is being done apart from timing belt which was done 18 months ago.

Car will be going back in for an ATF change in a week or two.

Once all that's done I need to invest in some cosmetic work to body and wheels but in the meantime I'd like to get the engine remapped.

So, which map?

I think RICA used to be quite highly regarded but have fallen out of favour more recently.

Current considerations are BSR or MTE. Does anyone have any experience of them? The BSR appeals because of the PPC unit which makes it possible to change between standard and remapped at will.

MTE - any benefits over BSR? I know there's a softloader involved but I don't have an XP computer to do it so would need to find a solution if I went down that route.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance folks.

Regards

Andy

Take a look at Shark, who are pretty well thought of on here. I've had one of their maps installed for around 10 months and 10,000 miles now. No issues, and I remain very happy (although note this is on an entirely different variant of the T5 engine to yours).

Cheers Chris,

In the end I've gone for a MTE remap. I asked on another forum too and it seems plenty of people rate it. The claimed returns are huge but I usually take these with a pinch of salt. It's not the claimed returns that were the deciding factor.

I know MTE has been around for a long time too - I'd looked into it for one of my previous T5's in the past but never got round to it.

So, it's all ordered and paid for. Just a waiting game now! Can't wait.

My neighbour has a Skoda Ovtavia and is considering Shark. They seem pretty popular for VAG cars.

That 2.4 T5 engine remaps very well anyway so I guess the claims are legit.

You look at 'Stage 1' examples on youtube and top end performance is insane.

Makes the old S60R look slow.

Can I buy from anyone just the [MTE] software? I have the ipd interface and the 'MTE Vehicle Identification' software. I just need the embedded software bundle that ipd/MTE send back to the customer allowing him/her to write the tuned software to his/her ECU.

This is it:-
"You unzip the tuned file that you received back from ipd/MTE and run the setup folder and you will get the MTE Softloader icon on your desktop, the files themselves will be in C:\Program Files\MTE\MTE Soft-Loader."

I just want the contents of the setup folder!
