Default Firmly sat on the fence

Still struggling to land on one side or the other.
My reading of this so far is that there may be an advantage in motorway torque for cruising with the overdrive engaged and also less stress on valve train to fit a K profile cam.
Would this cause any issue with the existing D-jet injection?
Still looks like there is no firm preference amongst users so I will ask a direct question based on the following.
Vehicle is '72 (early) ES . Off the road for 6 years and at least 4 owners. Have stripped engine completely.
Will retain all other B20E components although I think the head set is now a one size fits all E&F types.
If it were your own vehicle and you only want to do this once would you stay stock on a D or fit a K profile.

I'd pick the cheapest option - it won't be all that long in terms of the life of the engine before petrol will be removed from the forecourts and we'll all have to drive electric cars. Spending vast amounts of money on internal combustion engines seems to me to be money that could be used for the inevitable electric conversion!

They are the same price. I'll never be able to afford a conversion anyway.

In real terms there is actually little difference between the two: http://www.1800philes.com/ianr/_superlist_grinds.html

For peace of mind have a chat with Brookhouse or Amazon cars before you buy. A K may suit you slightly/tiny bit better but neither will be a wrong choice.

Starting to come off the fence now. More people seem to be coming down on the side of a K being a good option for a road car so that is probably going to be my choice.
Thank you all once again. It will be some time till I know whether I am making the right choice as I have a bit of welding to do! The vehicle I bought had been started by 3 or 4 different people, I aim to see it back on the road.
For anyone worried that I have cut out an unavailable panel, I negotiated with Simon at Brookhouse and they had their guy make up a new inner upper panel p/n 682818. These are now available on their website with all the correct holes for lighting access. I also purchased the full back panel using their Ebay deal which if you work out how difficult a panel it is to make is worth it.
I have left reference points by not yet cutting out the full rear panel. These will remain in place while I first make repairs to the sides of the boot floor.
Now wish me luck.
(P.S. The bottom right corner is not my work, nor is the channel on the bottom left of the tailgate.)
