If its any consolation we are suffering the same prob with anti skid service required and brake failure stop safely warnings along with other odd behaviour on our 55 v50 2.0d (the Folvo) it's been narrowed down to the Ecm, abs module, or swm/clock spring via 2 different diagnostic checks, all of which will require a re-mortgage of your house to fix.
I called in to see Barry at Lakes to see what tmy options are and in his opinion with 40yrs of volvo experience the car has run its time.
Which is a shame.

where did you get the new BCM and AYC sensors from
were they new or salvaged

do either of them need programming in (maybe the BCM, probably not the AYC)

what light is it you're trying to get rid of, is it showing up an EML or something

stupidest question of all but I don't suppose you've tried the classic battery off for an hour and on again now they've been replaced?

failing that hopefully someone who knows the technicals of it can come along and advise next steps

Funny you should say that about the battery.
The guy at Lakes said to try it leave it off overnight and reconnect it via the set procedure, it's a crude way to reset the ECM
He also advised not suitable to do this on all models as it causes loss of some codes or other but the v50 is ok

I've done it a number of times on mine, it does reset everything but obviously if a part is faulty the message will just come back straight away.. still it's a quick cheap easy thing to try

except for the agro of digging into the depths of the boot area, and having to lock all the doors by hand, and not being able to lock the tailgate

It seems to me the difference is, when you use VIDA to clear faults it comes up with that message, turn on, turn off, rev, do a little dance, make a little love get down tonight, which I've never really done. whereas the battery may be a proper complete reset?

I assume by 'set procedure' he meant having key in position 2 so the headlights coming on absorbs any jolts which could in theory damage the various modules? or something like that
