XC90 Locking system
Hi i am new to XC90 T6
Having owned a V70 i always realised that getting locked inside is impossible as the door would always open from the inside even when it is locked locked, I guess as a safety measure to avoid getting locked in. However in my XC90 10 seconds after locking the door locks internally as well as from the outside. is this normal? A Second difference i realised in the system, if i don't close the any of the doors properly the car will not lock at all as opposed to my old car where all the doors will lock without the indicators flashing. Are these settings that can be changed? |

Locking the inside door locks is called “dead locking” and is part Of the security system to make it difficult for thieves to sash a window and open a door from the inside. Totally normal and highly desirable.
It is normal for the car to refuse to lock any of the doors when one door is open. This is partly a reminder for you to close all the doors, and partly to avoid locking the keys inside the car. I believe that neither of these security functions can be disabled. If you disabled them, you’d be reducing the security of the vehicle, which may alter insurance ratings, and increase chance of theft, etc etc etc
