How to lock tailgate if central locking u/s?
How to lock tailgate when central locking does not work? ( Volvo V70 MKIII 2008).
Driver door lock finally failed last night and I have a message on the dashboard DOOR OPEN even though closed. It decided to work once again but stopped again. I have ordered lock motors but it will take some days before they will arrive and I can attempt repairs. I have manually closed all doors and can close drv door with a key, but tailgate remains unlocked. (Key will lock driver's door but other doors remain unlocked.) I've searched the Internet but failed to find how to lock the tailgate. (It closes properly). |

Maybe your problem isn't just lock motors, but some damaged wire between door and car?

I suspect it's related to switch or something is misaligned, most likely spring fell off. Last winter sometimes key fob did not lock properly drivers door.
Now, as the car thinks the door is open, central locking does not work and windows do not work using drivers door button. But if I open the door and move the latch with a key or screwdriver to second lock position, everything works, so wires must be OK. |

I have taken apart the door last Saturday and also changed motors although old ones I believe are still good. Some springs / metal part were rusty. I've used some lubricants etc on them. Unfortunately fault persists but now intermittent, sometimes key fob locks all door and all buttons on the drivers door work if no 'door open' message on dashboard. But more often it doesn't work than works. Either something related to latch or indeed a broken wire, as when I have opened the door sometimes window buttons on the door started to work but stopped when closed the door. |

Does the same occur with your spare key fob?

Thank you. Might be useful to know.
When door is shut and 'door open' message on the dashboard present - no buttons work on the door, thus can't lock the tailgate this way. I will work on this later this week if only weather permits. |
