Default Roof Bars

Did Volvo actually do cross bars to go between the roof rails on my V40 estate? I've looked on E-Bay and all I can see is aftermarket ones. Google would also appear to not be my friend! I used to have a Sierra estate and that had a set of specific Ford cross rails for it, just wondering Volvo did the same.

Yes i believe they did market 'volvo' sets, but they where made by thule and came in aero or standard square bar.

I would recommend just getting a thule fitting kit of ebay and picking the bars them selves up from halfords as there as cheap there as the net. My full set came to around £55 2 years ago. I think the thule fitting set is 755 or 757. I have used them for transporting 4 kayaks (75+kg)to the south of france for the last 3 years (2500miles each year) and regular use in the uk and had no problems with them. I have seen mates putting this sort of weight on mount blanc and other cheap makes...... not recommended!!!

They definitely exist - I've got some (the square ones, not the aero bars) bought 2nd hand off a forum member. They do come up from time to time. I think I paid about £50 for mine.

I have the aero bars, received from the father in law, when he sold his volvo. I believe they are the same as the Thule bars, though they come with locks, whilst mine do not.

I've got the Thule ones and they are brill - get the ones with the locks on them, they can be removed in about 5 mins. The other non brand ones look more fiddly, and are not completely flat on the top......... P.S. I don't usually buy branded stuff so they must be good (and won't get nicked either!)
