Default New shocks and strut brace

Hello all

I got a V40 1997 CD with a fair few miles and an wanting advice on the following.

I'll be replacing the shocks soon and would like a set that makes the handling a bit more responsive. I know the car is not going to go round corners on rails or anything like that, but just better than at the moment. Is it worth changing the springs as well? I'm not after a stiff ride, as I have had a car with lowered suspension and it ain't pleasant! I'll also be replacing all the roll bar struts, where can I get them cheaper than Volvo (£40 a pop, they're 'aving a laugh)

Also, will a strut brace make much difference in your opinion?

Aaannd another thing, the cushioning on my drivers seat has lost its support and I am going to re-upolster with foaming. Does this need to be special heat resistant for the seats? How hot do the heating elements get?

Look forward to your comments.

I've driven a T4 auto with a strut brace on and it didn't torque steer like most of them do during accerlation and it did feel tighter on the front end.
I'm still trying to decied if its worth the 160 quid from volvo for one or not tho.

Dave, Hi. By roll bar struts do you mean the droplinks between the front shock and the front roll bar? If so I has some ajustable ones made by Racers Hardware (Bearings)at Peterborough, 01733 211311. They cost me £59.54 incl VAT. for the pair. If you quote them invoice No. 857 they should still have the parts used. If you require further info email me at ray.thorp@btinternet.com I also have stut braces front and rear and it has taken a lot of the "sloppiness" out of cornering.
