On the C70 T5, -98 and -99, there is a keyhole on the drivers door and on the boot, and they both work even with a flat battery, obviously not the central locking though.

2003 C70 is the same.

Fitted new FAG wheel bearing kit today, nightmare getting it all apart - particularly the lower fulcrum pin. All went back a dream.
I can only hear the clock now!

C70 2.0T 2004 VIN shows a 2005 model - MOT passed............Hooray!
2/3 advisories @ 41,038 miles

1 & 2) both lower ball joint gaiters slightly split - same as last year

3) Near side front tyre low on tread........oops!

In point of fact front N/S has 3mm on inner edge and the best part of 4 to 5mm over the rest of tread on a 225 x 45 x 17 Y Nexan kerbed and not realigned ;-{) !
OS has 6mm 225 x 45 x 17 Y Nexan..........fronts are mismatched tread patterns Ahhh!

Rears are 245x45x17 Y Conti Sports with 6mm

So change the fronts as they don't match and then get it 4 wheel tracked!

Changed the rear lower engine mount. A few swear words involved but got there in the end. Mount was absolutely destroyed, completely fell apart in my hand so long overdue. Only the other hydraulic mount to do then that is all engine mounts done. Noticed a small leak in radiator so add that to the list. Getting there with the old bus. Learning a lot and costing me a small fortune but as of today it is now my daily. M135i sold. Wish me luck

Gave the convertible its annual service prior to the MOT.

Also the paint protection film on the sills was looking very scruffy along the sill edge. I had previously looked at replacing it and it was not until a member on another thread mentioned that the film is called 'helicopter tape' - I had never heard it called that- that I found what I needed, but loads of genuine 3M tape on the bay. So two strips ordered and delivered.

The back edge of the tape sits under the kick plate, so had to remove that. No clips involved, just sponge trim tape. Took the plates off, cleaned all the old stuff off, new 3M foam tape applied, cleaned the sill and applied the helicopter tape and then the kick plate.

The helicopter tape is much thicker than the original Volvo film and was very easy to apply - I only had one minor air bubble on one strip which just needed a pin prick to deal with it. The metal surface and tape does need to be warm for best results.

Attachment shows the finished job, which really does lift the whole door shut when opening the door. The edge of the tape can just be seen about 4mm down from the sill edge, as was the original. Another minor irritation sorted

Talking Been a busy beaver...

In the last few weekends ...
Rewired the dash gauge to show temp not the non functioning gas level. After many hours tracing wiring, turned out to be a simple cut and join.
Found there were LEDs in the overhead dome light switches- ran an interior light feed to the non existant pin on the plug. I now have lit up switches - not sure why Volvo did half a job.
Made a ‘change over’ box with selector switch for inside the arm rest to change from CD changer to the Yatour which I use for Bluetooth music. Now simple to change over.
Installed a sc901 with a Dolby unit (from Latvia)Went the hole hog and cut a hole in the dash top to install centre channel. No hopes of ever finding a factory dash with pressing round these parts. Put new crossover capacitors in the front teeeters and put another couple of capacitors to pass the low rumbling bass from front doors that cause rattles.
Front shock top mounts and bearings - really easy and lost the funny ‘crunching’ noise when going over pot holes. I thought the headlight was being flexed by the sounds of it - looking at front bumper mounts, broken headlight mounts anything that sounded like plastic being squashed. PO has done one side not the other for some lazy reason. Did the drop links while I was in there - 175k miles and they looked like undamaged originals.
Used nugget on the front seats after a really deep clean - really worth it. Had some new carpet mats made.Had the bonnet and both bumpers resprayed .

Now looks to others as I have always seen it ...

It’s the most beautiful ,expensive ‘cheap’ car I’ve ever owned..

850 2.5 Saloon (MY 1996)

Charged a very flat battery last night, re-fitted it this morning checked the fluids and then fired it up....

Started on the first turn which considering it hasn't been started or moved for at least six months isn't too bad and there wasn't any smoke either.

Going to have a go at the dreaded MOT next week, do I just put it in as is and see what happens or would a quick service be in order and then see what happens?

My thoughts are it's a Volvo, a real Volvo therefore pretty much bullet proof and it's not that old as Volvo's go and is just about run in now... I'm just going to put it in and then read the list after
