Dealership advice or recommendation
Hi all,
Just got my S60 back "again" from the service dealership. This time, it went in for something I wanted to pay for (wheel refurb) but also an apparently Mass airflow sensor failure which was to be replaced. The latter was down to me going in complaining about getting 29/30mpg in the D5 S60 55-plate when the brochure itself says I should get 37 or so combined Still not getting anything higher than 30.3 at the moment so I want to move on and try another dealership. With all this, when I got the car back, the brakes were grinding and when I asked about it, I was told that it could be the dirt and that everyones gone home so no one can check. This is despite me telling them that I have to be on a motorway journey today (and I was there from 4pm!) Anyway.... This is an actual Volvo dealership in question and I would still prefer to go to a Volvo Dealership. I really wanted to know what you guys think of HR Owen especially the one in North London (Collindale) That is infact the closest one (even more compared to the one I got the car from and where the bad service has been) I am e-mailing them to provisionally book me in for a number of issues but before finalising it, I dont want to go to a place where everyones had bad issues and horror stories with (for instance, like many experiences at stratstone in bham) any insight would be helpful and if anyone knows and recommend any other dealerships around North London ,please do post as well.

Ok I guess no one has any experience with a HR Owen especially the NW one ?
I ended up gong there today... overall image was "ok" Story starts with parking which was not fun at all! Very tight and ended up blocking someone in and leaving it at that. Went in, very nice as the showroom, parts, MOT Viewing and servicing is all in one large building. Its in the showroom basically. I always prefered this rather than two sites. So I went in not knowing where to wait as I didnt want the sales staff bugging me for a new car Few minutes later, was asked by someone whether I was ok and I explained I needed servicing and that there was one girl at the desk serving already. he said to basically take a seat and she would be with me soon. 2mins later I was being served. Told her my problems, took my details down but the soonest they could see me with a loan car was first week of june which is a let down. I was then told a loan car was only available if I was 24 or over. Explained that the other place always gave me one. Ended up being an insurance thing in which I said I insure it under mine. All went ok and it was booked in. So far, I didnt really like the service person. I felt a sense of rudeness or rushing in her voice - you know one of those who doesnt let you finish a sentance etc. Still, I was ok with it as I do need these issues sorted. Enquired about a trade in for the new S80 and that staff member was very nice (obviously!) and even got asked if I wanted a drink Moving on... went outside back in teh carpark where I noticed the garage they fix cars in -totally missed it the first time. After seeing that, I decided to give it a miss. It looks worse than your backstreet dodgy garage. Theres about 4-5 openings for cars, it was dark, dirty and just no sense of professionalism to it. Soon after, a man comes in to complain about a car he had left for 3 months with them for repair and on checking up on it, noticed two flat tyres, and a dent (i think it was an 850 or something estate?) He was naturally very annoyed. After hearing this, the horror of reversing out of the carpark started. I think I might leave it now because the issues cannot warrant further damage or anything and while the showroom is very big, clean and professional, I cant say the same about servicing. So the hunt begins again!

Sorry to hear about your negative experiences with dealers, but regarding the fuel economy the figures quoted in the brochures are based on an EU standard measurement.
Basically this is complete rubbish when compared to the real world and you will almost never achieve those figures. If it says 37 mpg in the brochure and you're getting 30 then that doesn't sound bad to me. Cheers, John |

well todays experience wasnt a "bad one"
it was just a personal review of what I saw more than anything as for consumption, im on 27 now and on typing up a thread under the S60 forum, everyone there has said its not good because others with same cars are getting much higher I was getting higher before, its only now that its gone lower
