Tailgate/Central Locking
Hi
The tailgate lock no longer operates with the rest of the door locks with the remote on a 1996 T5 Estate. The lock have been lubricated and a new batteries installed in the remote/Alarm fob. The tailgate lock will operate with the key in any door. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and regards Robert |

Had the same problem with 96 850 estate. Turned out to be faulty solenoid. Got 2nd hand unit from Lea Valley and fitted it no probs since. Regards |

Can you give contact details for Lea Valley? P/s how did you test the solenoid (sound/clicking noise)? Regards Robert |

RE: Tailgate/Central Locking
Problem has been cured by the application of a lithium based white grease into the tailgate lock. The grease is supplied in an aerosol and works best when the can is warmed. I think it is the over zealous use of a jet wash which caused the problem in the first place.

RE: Tailgate/Central Locking
I can vouch for a dodgy solenoid. I was having problems with the whole central locking system on the car and traced it down to the tailgate lock not operating. I took the whole thing apart and found a small switch inside the solenoid casing. If this switch doesn't operate then the lcoking cycle gets 'out of step' and so won't lock / un-lock. I had to split the casing open to get to it, but I think that the motor that drives the locking mechanism is on it's way out.
