Phase 2 front top mounts required.
Hi all, after a long drawn out exchange of messages with the eBay distributer of my coilovers about how they would fit all v40s from 96 to 04, and me telling him that he was wrong because the phases are different and they will not fit straight out of the box, he begrudgingly sent me a link directly to the manufacturers website, which states that they fit 00 to 04, so I'll be in need of some p2 top mounts at some point soon, anyone breaking a phase 2?
Thanks in advance

I've got one in bits at the moment - what is it exactly you need? (explain in petty detail please, a picture might be good too)

Hi canis, yes it is these bits I need, they bolt to the top of the front shocks and then to the car, they are different to my existing ones but as these coilovers are meant for a phase 2 it needs the later ones to convert them if that makes sense.

I'll have a rummage in the morning, but I must have a pair because I know I didn't throw them out. I'll report back.

Right, I found 'em. They were in my collection of large heavy metal things. They're still on the struts, so I'm gonna have to work out how to get them off. Lacking a spring compressor, I'll have to improvise. They're not exactly clean, and you'll probably want to paint them, but the threads look okay and without damage. So if you still want them, I'll persevere.

You're a lifesaver, I'd very much like to buy them, and as for pulling the springs down, hmm, I have done a few before using various methods but pretty much none of them were what I'd call all that safe, some thick plate with holes in which I tightened down with a few bits of m12 threaded bar was one way, but as I say if it goes wrong it can be catastrophic, I have also strapped a car down hard to the bed of a lorry before, used a winch to force the nose downwards, undone the top centre bolts both sides and then backed the winch off, but as I say, probably not safe, plus the latter relies on the struts still being on the car.

Rattle gun gets them off.
Sit on the floor with the strut top at your feet (strut facing away from you). Brace your feet against the strut top and buzz the top nut undone with the rattle gun. Itll fire the strut off across the ground but you wont need spring compressors and your legs will absorb the impact to stop anythin flying your way. Done countless struts this way |
