General: Broken glass inside tailgate and load cover housing

As a result of vandalism on my 2011 XC90 while on a recent holiday in France, the roller housing for the load cover now has broken glass inside it, ditto the tailgate. This tends to slide about when I'm on the move and the load cover itself is getting scratched. Any advice on how this glass could be removed? Many thanks. J.

When they replaced the glass, this should have been taken care of.

Go back to whichever glass company repaired the car - if this is in France, contact your insurer in the UK and they should sort it for you.....

I cannot see why the company which replaced the glass window should feel responsible for removing broken pieces from inside the cover mechanism. After all, they didn't break it.

However, your best bet would be to ask your local dealer if they can help. They will know how to take apart the cover mechanism.
When one of the end caps came off my cover, the service chaps at my local dealer said they would have a look at it for me, and they managed to replace the end cap after tensioning the cover.

Because its part of the standard service, well it is here in NL anyway - door cards off if needed and a thorough vacuum throughout the car.

Thanks for these very helpful replies and, as a newcomer to the Forum, I especially appreciate the quick responses. I'll certainly follow up both suggestions, but I'm not optimistic about a further approach to the insurers. They were very good and arranged the glass replacement very quickly, and the carpets were vacuumed, but nothing else. They were also unwilling to include the rear wiper arm (visibly damaged but still functional) on the glass policy.
