reason I asked was if gear cables are not routed correctly you can have issue getting gears
but I would check that linkage is secure
what does gear change feel like when engine is off and when engine running ...this can pin point if its a box issue or a clutch issue ...whats it like going into reverse

No clutch drag
Pedal biting in normal position
Clutch not bled while I had it.
Some one had floating centre console out before I bought car
as some screws were missing.

I have got a similar problem of getting the car into 2nd and reverse isn't very slick either.
Came across this thread http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...gear+crunching

Will give it a go tomorrow and see what happens.

Hi
I have the same problem first thing inthe morning gets better after about 5 min of driving.
One of the master members suggested clutch friction plate sticking on the splines of the gearbox.
